What Alignment issues can go undetected?

If your trailer lacks a computerized wheel alignment, issues like camber and toe misalignment may go undetected, impacting tire wear and fuel efficiency. Additionally, improper tracking exposes more surface area to wind resistance, affecting handling.

Over time, these alignment issues can strain suspension components, leading to costly repairs. Regular alignment checks help maintain vehicle stability, improve drivability, and extend the lifespan of critical parts.

We specialize in correcting camber, toe, and tracking problems to ensure optimal performance and efficiency on the road.

Why is camber such an important adjustment?

Does your truck or trailer wander or wear the edge of your tires? The camber is the inward or outward tilt of the tire assembly. This angle is measured from the true vertical line to the ground. If the top of the tire assembly is tilted outward from the engine, the camber is positive. If the top of the tire assembly is tilted inward towards the engine, it has a negative camber.

For a zero setting the tire assembly is in exact vertical position. Tire wear from camber will appear on the inner or outer half of the tire tread and the wear will be smooth. If camber is out of alignment it may cause wandering.

When is it time to check your alignment?

Knowing when to check your alignment is crucial for maintaining the longevity and performance of your vehicle. Stay proactive and ensure your vehicle is aligned for optimal performance. As a rule of thumb, here is when it’s time to check your alignment:

  • When any front end parts are changed (such as tie rod ends, king pins, bushings or springs)
  • When new tires are put on
  • When the truck or trailer is pulling in any direction
  • When there are wandering problems
  • When the tires are wearing unevenly

Definitions on Alignments adjustments

Camber

The issues that arise from an improper camber reading are tire wear along edges and handling issues such as wandering.

Caster

Caster controls the handling of your truck. If your truck pulls, driver fatigue and tire wear will be the result.

Tracking

Axles not working together create drag, tire wear and increase fuel consumption.
Fact: It takes just a 10th of an inch to have a big impact on your costs.

Toe

Improper toe can cause irregular shoulder tire wear and increase fuel consumption.
